Two-Thirds of Michigan Voters Support Reasonable Limits on Abortion

On April 24, new polling results on safeguards around abortion were released by the Marketing Resource Group. Michigan voters were asked about their support (or opposition) to some core, long-standing regulations in Michigan law: parental consent for abortion, the 24-hour waiting period to allow time for informed consent and the use of tax dollars to pay for abortions. The results were extremely encouraging, with an overwhelming majority of Michigan voters in favor of retaining these protections!

Here are the findings:

  • Parental Consent: 68% of voters are in favor of parental consent for a minor girl who is seeking or considering an abortion.
  • The 24-hour Waiting Period and Informed Consent: 66% of voters are in favor of informed consent and the 24-hour waiting period to ensure women are presented with the facts about abortion before having one.
  • Taxpayer Funding: 61% of voters are in favor of safeguards against using taxpayer dollars to pay for abortion.
