Joe Biden Pressuring Guatemala to Abandon It’s Pro-Life Position on Abortion

Joe Biden doesn’t just want abortion on demand across America, he wants it across the world.

The Abortion President is currently lobbing the pro-life nation of Guatemala, which has long protected babies from abortions to abandon its pro-life position. It wants the Central American nation to remove its nation from a pro-life statement it and many other nations signed during the Trump administration called the Geneva Consensus Declaration.

The Geneva Consensus Declaration represents an international coalition dedicated to protecting the health and well-being of women at all stages of life, defending the family, declaring that there is no right to abortion and protecting the sovereign rights of every country to protect these values.

Fortunately, several pro-life senators have written to Guatemala urging it to remain one of the 36 nations signing the document.

The pro-life group CFAM has more:

“We write to strongly urge you to remain in the Geneva Consensus Declaration coalition,” the Senators wrote in a letter dated March 13. “As you are aware, the GCD is a coalition of thirty-six nations from every region of the world committed to promoting women’s health, and supporting the intrinsic value of every life, strong and healthy families, and your own national sovereignty.”

The initiative is being led by former chairman of the Senate pro-life caucus Steve Daines (R-MT) and was joined by Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Lindsay Graham (R-SC).

Among other things, the Geneva Consensus Declaration acknowledges that no international right to abortion exists.

The Biden administration has viewed the Geneva Consensus Declaration as a threat to their attempts to spread a legal right to abortion around the world. President Biden withdrew from it shortly after taking office and has pressured countries party to the agreement to withdraw including through the UN human rights system.

Guatemala is the regional leader for the Geneva Consensus Declaration. Its former president Alejandro Giammattei established Guatemala as the “pro-life capital of Latin America.”

In 2020, the United States under President Donald Trump signed the historic document along with 34 other countries. However, Biden removed the U.S. soon after taking office.

Most countries protect unborn babies’ right to life or limit abortions to, at most, the first trimester. Only a few, including the United States and China, allow unborn babies to be aborted for any reason up to birth.

Previously, U.S. Sen. Steve Daines, R-Montana, and other pro-life Republicans urged Biden to rejoin the declaration.

“The Geneva Consensus Declaration is not just a piece of paper — it’s a family of nations anchored in the universal principles of life, family and national sovereignty,” Daines said in a statement. “President Biden’s withdrawal from the Declaration did not mark the end of the American commitment to protecting life and family. Instead, President Biden should reverse this decision and have the United States rejoin the Declaration.”

Abortion is the number one cause of death world-wide. Estimates vary, but research suggests somewhere between 42 million and 73 million unborn babies are aborted every year across the world.
